Special Agent Ty Grady is pulled out of undercover work after his case blows up in his face. He's cocky, abrasive, and indisputably the best at what he does. Garrett is the perfect image of an agent: serious, sober, and focused, which makes their partnership a classic cliché: total opposites, good cop-bad cop, the odd couple. They both know immediately that their partnership will pose more of an obstacle than the lack of evidence left by the murderer.
Practically before their special assignment starts, the murderer strikes again – this time at them. Now on the run, trying to track down a man who has focused on killing his pursuers, Grady and Garrett will have to figure out how to work together before they become two more notches in the murderer's knife.
Allison McFadden walked slowly in the cool night air, her arms tightly wrapped around her slim body to keep the wind from whipping at her coat. The man with her saw her shiver and gently put his arm around her, sending an electric jolt of anticipation through her.

Hosszú hétvégére terveztem ezt a bejegyzést, de három blog nyolc posztja után már elfogyott az erőm... hiába maradt a legjobb a végére. Tehát: muszáj volt belekezdenem végre a Cut&Run című könyvbe, mert miután Angelika olyan jókat írt róla - és egyből feltettem a várólistámra -, egyre többen kezdték el húzni előttem a mézesmadzagot… no, meg Nusejka kommentjei sem könnyítették meg a helyzetemet, én meg baromi könnyen befolyásolható lettem az elmúlt másfél évben könyvek terén :P
A két szereplő teljesen magával ragadott. Amint belekezdem, első benyomás alapján Ty lett az én emberem, a maga pimasz, ex-tengerészgyalogos és rosszfiús módján. Hozzáteszem: Zane sem tökéletes a sok függőségével, senki ne várjon szupertökéletes alfa-hímeket. Ám ahogy haladtam az olvasásban, úgy változott az aktuális kedvenc helyzete.... kb. annyiszor ahányszor éppen megsebesült valamelyikük. Abban pedig nem volt hiány. Fokozatosan végigvezettek minket a szerzők a két ügynök kapcsolatának alakulásán, ahogyan elkezdtek egymás iránt vonzódni. Olyan karizmatikus egyéniség mindkettő, hogy csak imádni lehet őket, bár néha úgy összeütöttem volna a fejüket! :D Imádtam a folyamatos piszkálódást is benne. Onnan kezdett el egyre jobban tetszeni az egész történet, amikor hónapokkal később visszarendelték őket D.C.-be és újra találkoztak. Az elején leginkább azt éreztem, hogy csak kerülgetik egymást, és vártam a "nagy pillanatot" :) Szerencsére az intim jelenetek is nagyon tetszettek, pláne a Lover at Last után. Itt úgy éreztem, hogy megkaptam azt, amit abban annyira hiányoltam, és elrontotta az egész könyves élményemet.
A krimiszálat kellett volna egy kicsit jobban kidolgozni, mert a gyilkos személyét nem volt nehéz kitalálni. Bár a vége felé egy jelenetnél eléggé meginogtam :)
Sajnálom, hogy kicsi országunk még nem érett meg egy ilyen regényre, mivel szerintem sokak kedvence lenne. Azért a molyos négy csillag, mert tudom, hogy még jobb is lesz, és akkor meg hova pontoznám...?
Könnyen bele lehet szeretni a sorozatba, és mivel két pasi a főszereplő, a sok káromkodás sem lehet meglepő az olvasóknak. Kíváncsian várom a folytatást, hogy hogyan és mivé alakul ezen felül a kapcsolatuk, de van egy olyan érzésem, hogy továbbra is ilyen se veled-se nélküled lesz... és ahogy a kis képecskére is megírtam alul: plusz egy Zane&Ty rajongóval lett mától a világ gazdagabb.
Kedvenc idézet(ek): rengeteg volt, de csak párat mazsoláztam ki ízelítőként:
“Listen up, ’cause I'm only gonna say this once,” Ty muttered as they walked to their gate. “I don’t talk when I fly. I sleep. And I don’t listen when I eat, understand? I don’t wanna be buddies. I don’t wanna chat,” he said with a sarcastic lilt to the word. “I don’t wanna know about your childhood or how your momma whipped you with a rubber glove or how much therapy you had to go through ’cause you flunked out of preschool. I don’t wanna hear about how you want to be Director someday or how many collars you got chasin’ those Internet freaks or how proud you are of your bowel movements. I don’t wanna go shopping at Barney’s with you, and I’m not gonna help you pick out your ties to match your socks and, I swear to God, if you get me shot, I’ll kill you.”
“Once a Marine, always a Marine,” Zane quoted as he pulled on a light jacket.
“I loved being a Marine,” Ty responded defensively.
Zane looked at him evenly, seeing the bottom of Ty’s tattoo peeking out from under a shirtsleeve. “You still are a Marine,” he said.
Ty stopped his movements and cocked his head at Zane, trying to decide whether he was serious or just humoring him.
“My brother-in-law’s a Marine,” Zane said. “He always said you’re one for life.” He waited for Ty’s response.
Ty’s eyes darted over Zane thoughtfully. “He was right,” he murmured finally before looking away and grabbing his leather jacket.
“Not the best pickup line I’ve ever heard, but it’ll do for now,” Ty responded, his voice lighter again, if not still slightly groggy.
“Are you taking advantage of a concussion to pump me for information?”
“Damn straight,” Zane said immediately.
After a long moment Ty simply gave an admiring, “Nice.”
Zane smiled a bit and lifted away the ice pack to look at the head wound. “Learned it from you.”
“You fuckshit!” Ty called hoarsely from the bathroom.
Zane snorted. It was about what he had expected to hear. Slightly more creative.
“What did you give me?” Ty demanded angrily.
Zane’s lips twitched. “Diphenhydramine hydrochloride,” he answered, pulling socks and a long-sleeved button-up out of his duffel.
“Fucking Benadryl? What the hell, man?” Ty asked in a hoarse, incredulous voice. “Were you trying to put me in a coma?” he asked angrily. “How much did you give me?”
“Just three capsules,” Zane answered flatly.
For Ty, three capsules was damn near an overdose. Christ, he would be twitching for weeks after this.
“Ty—”
Ty stopped with his hand on the doorknob, turning to look back at Zane.
He had turned around to look at him, and some of the cold was out of his demeanor, revealing a hint of unusual vulnerability. “You said I wouldn’t miss you.” He drew in a long breath, and his voice was even quieter when he spoke again. “You were wrong.”
Ty was silent, unmoving as he met Zane’s eyes across the room. “I was wrong about a lot of things,” he said finally, his voice soft and wistful.
He turned the knob and quickly slid out of the room.
Turning back to the window, Zane leaned his forehead against the glass and closed his eyes.
“Fuck,” Zane murmured, pulling Ty closer. “You’re worse than heroin.”
Ty stopped short and cocked his head at Zane. “Not sure that’s a compliment,” he muttered.
He wrapped his arm over Zane protectively and nuzzled his nose into Zane’s hair with a sigh.
“Sleep,” he whispered soothingly, knowing if Zane didn’t, then he wouldn’t either. It was impossible for him to rest with a tense body next to him.
Húúúú ez nagyon tetszik, de nincs nekem időm ennyi jó könyvre. :( :D Viszont nyáron muszáj lesz elkezdeni. :))))
VálaszTörlésNagyon örülök, hogy szép lassan fertőz az engem teljesen letaglózó Ty & Zane láz. Remélem, leszünk még többen is. Jó olvasást a többi kötethez! Hidd el, lesz még fejlődés, és adhatsz csillagos ötöst is :)
